DIRECTING HIGHLIGHTS
To Whom It May Concern;
I have an impassioned drive to create theatre relatable and accessible to humankind. During my time training in the performing arts under many pedagogies, ranging from being the actor, the director, the stage manager, backstage hand, board operator, electrics crew, etc. I have learned the value of communication. With my direction, I choose to step forward with my mission: inspiring simplicity which empowers the individual artist — therefore group (and art). This, in my mind, can be found through the structure of synthesized communication, built-upon trust, and a general acknowledgement of passion and/or reason to creating theatre. Whether big or small, everyone has the ability and right to make a positive change to the world.
In my style, I delve into the side of dark/absurd comedy. This is because, as such in life, we can cognitively digest things dealt with light-heartedly, which would otherwise seem taboo to talk about. This is a truth I seek for in my pieces. And in this truth, finds diversity in the voices that need to be heard. This is a process that demands empathy, which is at the heart of everything I strive to do, theatre-related or not.
